RAAM Unveils 'Gowok: Javanese Kamasutra'—A Bold Story of Tradition and Human Desire

Jakarta, 30 May 2025 – Last Monday, PT Tripar Multivision Plus Tbk (IDX: RAAM) proudly  announced the gala premiere of its latest cinematic endeavor, “Gowok: Javanese Kamasutra”.  The film delves into the depths of Javanese tradition, sensuality, and the complexities of human  relationships. 

Directed by the acclaimed Hanung Bramantyo and produced by veteran filmmaker Raam Punjabi,  Gowok: Javanese Kamasutra transports audiences to 1960s Java, unraveling the story of Nya'  Ratri, portrayed by Raihaanun. As a 'gowok'—a traditional sexual educator—Nya' Ratri is  entrusted with guiding young men before marriage, a tradition lost to time. The narrative takes  a compelling turn as she becomes entangled in a personal vendetta, intertwining themes of love,  betrayal, and empowerment. The film uniquely blends genres of drama, romance, and thriller,  making it one of the first of its kind in the Indonesian market.  

Leading RAAM’s third feature film of 2025 is the critically acclaimed Raihaanun, who brings  emotional depth and nuance to the role of Nya’ Ratri. She is joined by celebrated actress Lola  Amaria, making a much-anticipated return to the big screen after more than a decade—her  presence alone stirring excitement among fans and industry watchers alike. Rising star Devano  Danendra injects youthful energy and charisma into the story, while the ever-versatile Reza  Rahadian delivers yet another layered performance, cementing his status as one of Indonesia’s  finest actors. Alika Jantinia rounds out the cast, bringing a fresh presence and emotional  resonance to the ensemble. 

Gowok: Javanese Kamasutra also garnered international attention with its world premiere at the  54th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) on February 2, 2025. Selected for the  prestigious Big Screen Competition, the film was lauded for its rich visual narrative and  exploration of cultural themes. Critics praised Bramantyo's direction, noting the film's ability to  intertwine personal stories with broader societal commentaries.
