Jakarta, 16 September 2025 – PT Tripar Multivision Plus Tbk (IDX: RAAM) proudly announced the premiere screening of the latest horror film by visionary director Randolph Zaini, Dia Bukan Ibu (She Is Not Mother). The gala premiere, held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Epicentrum XXI in Jakarta, marked the film’s grand debut ahead of its nationwide theatrical release on September 25, 2025.
Starring Artika Sari Devi, Aurora Ribero, Ali Fikry, Iskak Khivano, and Sita Nursanti, Dia Bukan Ibu delivers a family horror tale wrapped in mystery, laced with emotional drama, and designed to disturb and unsettle.
The story follows siblings Vira (Aurora Ribero) and Dino (Ali Fikry) who live with their mother, Yanti (Artika Sari Devi). Two years after her divorce, Yanti undergoes a drastic transformation— suddenly cheerful, successful, even buying a new house and running a busy salon. But behind this facade, Vira begins to witness disturbing events: her mother harms a customer, attacks Dino, and then behaves as if nothing ever happened. The tension escalates as Vira tries to uncover who— or what—her mother truly is.
“Dia Bukan Ibu essentially explores the idea of a mother, who should be a safe home for her children, but is capable of doing things beyond human comprehension. The mystery and terror in this film lead us into unsettling and shocking discomfort,” said director Randolph Zaini, who co-wrote the screenplay with Titien Wattimena and Beta Inggrid Ayu.
Randolph emphasized that the film is not only about fear but also about exploring family trauma, identity, and the fragile line between reality and nightmare.
Produced by Raam Punjabi and Amrit Punjabi, the film offers a new approach to Indonesian horror.
“Through the film Dia Bukan Ibu, MVP Pictures takes a different storytelling approach in the Indonesian horror genre. The terror that unfolds at home, from a mother experiencing an identity crisis, eventually leads to events that may seem beyond our human comprehension. Dia Bukan Ibu will send shivers down the audience’s spine, even into their dreams,” explained producer Amrit Punjabi.
Returning to the big screen after a long hiatus, Artika Sari Devi admitted she was challenged by the role of Yanti, particularly in physical sequences such as navigating a narrow hallway on a segway. “This film also speaks about women’s identity and reflections on social expectations,” she shared.
Aurora Ribero said her role as Vira was deeply personal: “This horror film makes you uncomfortable, but it also opens the door to empathy for the characters.”
Ali Fikry revealed the intense physical challenges he faced, from climbing and running to acting with thick, distorted fish-eye glasses that limited his vision.
Dia Bukan Ibu has been officially selected for Fantastic Fest 2025, the largest genre film festival in the United States.
